How does it work?
Lasers work by emitting a specific wavelength of light to target the hair follicle at the root. Most clients obtain significant results within three to eight treatments. The pulses of highly concentrated light are emitted from the laser into the hair follicles and the pigment in the follicles absorbs the light, destroying the hair.
When should I book in?
The best time for laser is always Winter- unless you are treating a discreet area - as you need a bare minimum of 6 sessions and you are not allowed to expose the area to the sunlight 2 weeks prior or post treatment.
Does it hurt?
Most patients liken the sensation to an electric band snapping across the skin. As more and more hair follicles are destroyed treatment by treatment so does any discomfort.
What kind of equipment does LCUK use?
At Laser Clinics United Kingdom, our experienced therapists use the medical grade GentleLase Pro YAG and GentleLase Pro Candela lasers to efficiently remove unwanted hair from all skin types.
Your Laser Hair Removal Checklist:
DO make sure you shave 12-24 hours prior to your appointment
DO complete at least 6 treatments one month apart to ensure you get the most out of your Laser Hair Removal – hair goes through a resting, falling out and a growth phase, meaning not all of the hair will respond to the pulses
DO use SPF 30+ moisturiser daily on treated areas that are exposed to sunlight. This helps prevent hyper-pigmentation (skin discolouration) and skin sensitivity.
DON’T remove hair from the roots – you should avoid waxing between treatments as the roots of your hair need to be present for the treatment to be successful. Shaving, trimming, or depilatory creams may be used between treatments. If you do decide to wax you'll need to wait 4-6 weeks before you have another treatment.
DON’T expose the treated area to direct sun for a minimum of two weeks before and after your laser hair removal treatment. This also applies to spray tan applications and solariums
Shave the treatment areas 24 hours prior to the appointment. Shaving is available in clinic for certain areas only (excluding private areas and face) for an additional fee.
No sun exposure two weeks prior to the treatment areas.
Allow 4 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had direct sun exposure. (Any kind of tanning or active sunbathing, with or without SPF).
Allow 2 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had incidental sun exposure (stayed in the shade for the majority of the time during sunny periods, with or without SPF on).
Ensure all fake tan is removed and there is no residual fake tan present on the skin 24 hours before your treatment.
Avoid using topical creams, moisturisers, body oils, colognes or perfumes to the area being treated 24 hours prior to treatment.
Unfortunately, we cannot treat over tattoos with our laser. We can treat around the tattooed areas with a gap of 3cm.
Some medications may make this treatment inadvisable, therefore a complimentary consultation for 1st-time clients is required before booking.
