The benefits of Skin Needling
The Laser Clinics Team
10 Oct 2025
Skin Needling also known as Dermal Rolling, has been the talk of the town over the last few years and continues to gain popularity. Skin care and beauty enthusiasts alike swear by it. But… what does Skin Needling do and what can it treat?
Skin Needling is a professional skin treatment that is available at 110+ Laser Clinic United Kingdom locations and is performed by our team of highly trained skin therapists. The treatment uses microneedles on a medical grade roller or pen and your skin therapist will move this roller or pen over the skin to create tiny, evenly-spaced punctures on the skin. These micro-punctures go through the skin with minimal damage to the upper epidermal layer but creates a microscopic, generally painless injury to the deeper dermal layer. The minor injury and bleeding triggers a “wound-healing” response in the skin. This results in increased collagen and elastin production.
What can Skin Needling treat?
Skin Needling is the one-stop anti-ageing skin treatment! It stimulates the production of your collagen to create smoother, healthier skin. Skin Needling benefits include reducing the appearance of:
Acne scarring
Fine lines
Pigmentation
Enlarged pores
Scarring
Stretch marks
The results are improved skin texture, more even skin tone and an all-around healthy glow.
How often should I get Skin Needling treatments?
This depends on your individual treatment plan and your treatment goals. On average, we recommend 3-6 treatments with each treatment spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Note, each person will vary slightly and our skin therapist will advise on the recommended number of treatments at your complimentary consultation.
Skin Needling does require some preparation. Find out more about Skin Needling preparation here.
Shave the treatment areas 24 hours prior to the appointment. Shaving is available in clinic for certain areas only (excluding private areas and face) for an additional fee.
No sun exposure two weeks prior to the treatment areas.
Allow 4 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had direct sun exposure. (Any kind of tanning or active sunbathing, with or without SPF).
Allow 2 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had incidental sun exposure (stayed in the shade for the majority of the time during sunny periods, with or without SPF on).
Ensure all fake tan is removed and there is no residual fake tan present on the skin 24 hours before your treatment.
Avoid using topical creams, moisturisers, body oils, colognes or perfumes to the area being treated 24 hours prior to treatment.
Unfortunately, we cannot treat over tattoos with our laser. We can treat around the tattooed areas with a gap of 3cm.
Some medications may make this treatment inadvisable, therefore a complimentary consultation for 1st-time clients is required before booking.
